Hello From USA

  • It looks like Serbetli is manufactured in Turkey and is a more traditional tobacco. I will have to try and get some. My US Navy squadron is deploying to Afghanistan and we are sending 1 person to Sembach Germany, I tried to go but they wouldnt let me. I am too high ranking to go there so I will ask the person they send to look for some Serbetli for me.

  • Serbetli is rly sweet cos of mass honey in the molasse..... Not as sweet as Starbuzz etc, but sweeter than all other "traditional" tobaccos... I dont like it =/

  • It's quite hard to find foreign Serbetli tobacco in germany.
If ya want to buy it in a german hookah shop, you will only get tobacco with 5% Moisture.

Of course you can use Serbetli molasse to moisten it, but.....it's not the same as turkish Serbetli.

  • I keep forgetting about the German 5% moisture law. Man how do you guys do it? Do you just use honey or vegetable glycerin to help with moisture?

Bisan for Example is an excellent Brand. Its delivered with extra Molasses. Most of us order in forgein countires or buy it from people in the forum. We have a special area for this ;) Unfortunaley most time it isn`t cheap. If the Custom Service catchs your packet you pay 120% of the price you payed for the tobacco. For example: 100$ for tobacco, customs services catches, you pay up to 120$ taxes. Very gay. -.-

  • And @ your question.

I buy german tobacco cause of it's cheaper price unlike the imported tobacco from and with some "tricks" you can smoke it :>
i wet it with glycerin and bahrain arabica (a honey glycerin mix or whatever xD) in a mix ratio of 1 to 4.
then you wait 24 hours, so that the molasse can sink in the tobacco.
After this torture you can smoke it ^^

But i also like your american tobacco, it is a good alternative but some brands are too chemical in my opinion.

  • Hey Billy.
One question: How do you smoke ur hookah?
Cause i've seen many Americans doing it in a really "wrong" way. In Germany we don't waste tobacco and only use 5-8 Grams per a normal Bowl.
It would be nice if you'd post some photos and stuff.

  • Well, I smoke mine wrong also because I use more than 7-10 grams per bowl. I use a large Tangiers funnel and now use a Vortex bowl. I am going to try and use less and see how it works for me.

  • I wouldn't call your setup "wrong". :D
It's just a different way of smoking.

btw. our way of smoking is without harsh smoke.
Neither at the beginning nor at the end of a hookah session.

I think the people in overseas experience somewhat different, right?
Putting so much tobacco into a hookah head omg...it's supposed to be very harsh...

Tell me something about the American Way of smoking. ^^

  • The way of lif.....ehh smoking :P

I think just in the beginning there is a harsh smoke.
later it is like our smoke :D

i tried it yesterday and put around 20 gramm of al waha in my little chinahead.
and the surprising thing was that it was good 0.o
the best result i ever had with al waha ;)

But with the times it is too expensive 8)

    hope you understand xD

  • it also depends on the brand of shisha. for example nakhla works best with such a huge amount of shisha. it can touch the foil and it wont scorch, although there seems to be too much heat.
one of the best hookahs i've ever had, was in an arabian lounge in berlin with Nakhla (i really hate nakhla - its disgusting), packed over the rim, some layers of tinfoil and 3 small natural coals on it. i thought it must be harsh as hell, but it was awesome.

but no one can smoke Hookah Hookah like this, even if he/she is american :D it is impossible to smoke some shisha brands like this, but this kind of bowl packing works fine with Al Waha, Nakhla, Tangiers, Starbuzz, Al Fakher and some other brands. I didnt really try it like this, but there is almost no taste, if you pack starbuzz with a too little amount of shisha. for the best flavor, you have to pack SB to the rim.

  • When I have a harsh it is usually enoungh to move the coal a little bit so that the air flow is different and the coal cools down. The tobacco starts burning, cause the temperature is too high, you must just lower it:)

    FAKHUR:)

  • FIIIIIInally got through these 5 sides to be able to post here ^^

i really appreciate it that some1 from the US actually tries to learn the german language, which is (compared to others) not the simplest one though. After a discussion on the hookahforum.com with some ppl i thought that a pretty big part of the american population is not likely to accept foreign cultures or parts of it. I hope you don´t belong to that part of it ;) or blame me because of having such thoughts, I´d be happy if you told me the turth.

But still, Stay Cosmopolitan ^^, and this statement is not only dedicated to the american people out there.

I was wondering about when you ( huskysibe ) actually started smoking hookah? So when was your first puff on one?

Dapper and distinguished as he was, he'd enter the fray with both fists and a mighty roar.

  • Thanks for asking! I started smoking Hookah 2 or 3 years ago. I dont smoke cigarettes or anything but I heard of hookah and how sweet and fruity the tobacco was so I decided to try it. It took me a few tries to learn how to set it up and get the heat perfect. Now I smoke alot of traditional tobacco, ones with complex spices and flavors. My personal favorite is an Indian tobacco called Desi Murli, it is fantastic! As for the Americans, I think we are tolerant and most of us want to learn different countrys cultures. But there are a few bad apples that can spoil it for everyone. I stopped in Germany on my way to Afghanistan and the people were very friendly.
