Help choosing tobacco and website

  • Hi all hookah smokers!
I dont speak german: i hope that's ok!
I tried to post on the nakhla tobacco section but only moderators can post new topics???? how is that?
Anyway, I'm trying to buy some shisha tobacco and coal from some german website (here in Italy there is no way to get some).
Unfortunately everything is in german. Now, can any of you advice me a good website that ships to italy and allow credit card payments? Also the prices have to be not too high. In particular I'd like to get two 250g packs of nakhla tobacco (double apple and fruit-mix are my favourite) because i've been told nakhla has the best quality/price shisha. I've seen they cost 11-12 euros each. Is that bad? Is it better to get the aluminum jar or the carton? Do you suggest any other brand? Al-faker is also good but maybe a little expensive... What about the coal? I was going for the 3Kings 100 pack (40mm) at about 10 euros. Again, is it a good quick lite coal?
I havent any other question at the moment :D . I hope I haven't bothered u guys and i'm hoping for some reply !! Bye

The german Tobacco is crab. I would prefer Al Fakher, Layalina and Al Ajamy Tobacco.

Carcoal: Choose Tom Cocochas, those charcoals are the best you can get. They aren't expensive either.

  • Hold on, are you telling me that german tobacco is not good? I thought it depends on the brand. I don't think (i hope  ) nakhla tobacco is made in germany. Am I wrong? Is the cold you advice me quick light? Because i really need that. Thanks

  • ahhh now i get it. it sux.
but what is the fluid? the nicotin? or what? Is it relevant to the taste? i mean do you have to be a real expert to get the difference b/w "real" tobacco and german tobacco? Because i'm not an expert but i'd like to get the typical shisha "buzz" get when i smoke hooka.

  • It really depends on the brand.

German Serbetli tobaco is said to be smokeable, but all other 'german' tobacos have to be mixed with glycerine before you can smoke it.

But be careful with the glycerine. If you put too much in your tobaco, it causes terrible headache...

    so long
    :r4f:mvbs:

    //edit:
KoMiK: I think by 'fluid' he meant the humidity of the tobacco. If there isn't enough of it in the tobacco, you get almost no smoke. You should mix it with Glycerine (you can get it at every pharmacy).

  • Depending on where you live in italy it might be interesting to buy your tobacco in switzerland. I don't know how dangerous it is to try the postal way (duty payments).
Serbetli is said to be the best tobacco available in germany, true. But brands like Al Fakher, Layalina, Al Ajama, Al Amir and so on seem to be much better for me.
I think 25% nicotine would kill you  Most of the fluid parts of hookah tobacco is glycerine, it causes the smoke. You don't have to be an expert to get the difference between original and german tobacco.
3kings is a good choice if you want to smoke with quick lights, but you might have better smoking experiences with natural charcoal.

  • peaze man,

well, actually all was said. But i wanted to add, that I myself do not precisly like layalina tobacco. well, sure it is a lot better than the nakhla crap, available here, but I'd recommend Al Fakher, Tangiers and Serbetli - those are much better.

  • wow, thanks everybody. nice people you germans :D.
anyway i'm checking out http://www.hookahcompany.com and see what they have. I'll let u know what i decide to get. Are Al Amir, Al Waha or Layalina good? any different from Nakhla? Cuz they have pretty much the same price..

  • Hey Komik,

You should definitively not order Nakhla in Germany, neither Serbetli. Like all the other people said, you should order at http://www.hookahcompany.com . You can also order Nakhla tobacco there. But do not forget to order some Al Fakher tobacco, especially "Golden Al Fakher Black Grape" is often considered the best shisha in the world.

It's also cheaper to order in the U.S.:
2 packs of Nakhla + shipping would be 32$

In Germany 2 packs of Nakhla + shipping to Italy would be at least 30 .

Tip: if you order under one kilo of shisha at http://www.hookahcompany.com you can choose "surface shipping(which is cheaper) and they will send it via airmail (which is really fast).

  • Thanks Al999
But are you telling me that "non german" nakhla is good? Also, do you think the jar is better of the carton 250gr? Also, how long can the shisha last (jar/carton)? I'm not a daily smoker, so do i have to worry about the shisha getting old if i dont use it? Maybe once every week or two... Thanks for the tip!!!

Yes, it is, but there are better brands on hookahcompany.com. Of course it's purely a matter of taste. Try Al Amir, Al Fakher and Layalina, my favorites.

Well, what do you expect to hear? Jars might be better for daily use.

Should there be any differences? The caton boxed tobacco is in a plastic foil, so I don't think it dehumidifies faster.

It's recommended to consume the tobacco within two years, but I think you could use it even later.

But mind the customs in Italy. If they open your package and see that the stuff you've ordered costed more than allowed you might get in financial problems (--> you can import a good wihout any customs yet it it's value does not reach a certain amount). 'Couse if they open your package and see that you imported more than valid you'll be payin' customs which should be around 200% of the value of your goods (@at: ain't sure 'bout that, dudes. Don't beat me up if I'm wrong ;) )

  • Ok, very last questions (i hope) before i buy.
    They have many charcoals:
    http://www.hookahcompany.com/all_hookah_charcoal_33_ctg.htm

but i need a very quick lightning one because sometimes i smoke "on the road", with my friends and a lighter is all we have... should i go for the 3kings (damn it's expensive)? do you know if the coals are 40 or 33 mm? i think i tried the japanese once but it's *not* quick lightning!!
How does the "free 50gr Laylina with + 50$" work? do i have to add it to the cart?
Prolan: do u mean i can use the shisha even 2 years after i opened the box (that would be great)??? Where should i keep the shisha? someone told me in the refrigerator, someone absolutely not...???

Do you know what's the maximum? cuz i dont think i'm gonna spend over 60$..

  • No don't add the free Layalina into your cart, u will get a list where to choose when u r finishing ur order. But u can only choose if ur order is min at 50€. Yes the fridge is good if u r need only less shisha over a long time.
    It's not really so expensive, 1$~1,196€ ;)

About the charcoals im not informed sry.

  • Hm,

I think it was 'round 30 € for germany, although I am pretty sure it was less than 60$... but you may easily look it up on the Website of the Italian government I suppose. (just try google - ya shall get good results there ^^)

  • The advantage of http://www.hookahcompany.com is that they label the package, so that it's not suspicious for the custom services.
In germany, about 80% of all packages go through the custom. I don't know about Italy, but I ecpect it to be the same there...

And you can usually say that, the less you order, the bigger the chance to not pay extra.

There are really a lot of flavors and brands out there, but some "allstars" are:
    -Golden Al Fakher Black Grape
    -Al Fakher Cola
    -Al Fakher Plum
    -Laylina Apple Eskandarany
-Laylina Black Grape (cheap but good alternative to Golden Al Fakher)
    -Laylaina Blueberry
    -Laylaina Cherry
    -Layalina Blueberry
    -Al Amir sour apple
    -Al Amir caramel apple

I would not order any Double Apple shisha. Try the apple shishas above and you'll see that they are much more authentic and better.

If you need quick lightning coal, Three Kings is the best brand.

3kings is the only quick lighting charcoal which is temporarily available anyway. I don't know if they are 33 or 40 mm, but I guess 40mm. Ask George if you want certainty.

I think so, yes. Particularly if you store it in the fridge.

  • OK! Here's my order finally:
-Golden Al Fakher Black Grape 250gr (i count on this one... 16$)
-Mixed Fruit Al Amir 250 Gram Tub
    -3kings charcoal
+ 50gr Layalina Peach (tried it once, very good)

    Total 60 $ = 50 euros

    I'm very happy now!!!
I just hope nothing is gonna happen when the package gets to italy...
Btw how long does it take? a week or so?
Anyway i'm happy i found this little community of hooka-smokers.
This culture has not spread out in italy yet... Btw do you know about any *english* forums?
    Thanks again to everybody!!
