Buying from Germany advice for UK person

Hi All!

It has been very hard to get information on tobacco advice for the german market so I will ask here. Firstly I am very sorry my german is highly likely to be worst than your english, UK language education is very poor :(

is it possible for persons from the UK to buy tobacco on german websites? or just buy when I visit? Where you recommend in Berlin to smoke and buy also?

What german tobacco brand you recommend? My favourite at the moment is Al Fakher, do you have anything similar to this in Kiwi or Blueberry? do you guys have good mint flavours?

I am hoping you can all help me out! this is very exciting.

Usualy , hookah-tobacco in Germany is only allowed with a moisture of 5 % ,
because hookah tabocco is sold as pipe tobacco .

There are some brands in Gemany , eg Nakhla , which you only can get with low moisture
of 5 % an you have to add extra glycerin to make it smokable .

Other brands , like Al Waha , sell different types of tobacco , for some flavours you need to buy
extra moassel with glycerin and Flavour , other flavours are ready to smoke .

Al Fahker used to be try too , but i heard that smokable Al Fakher is available here , too .

But there are plenty of hookah tobacco brands , which are ready to smoke ,
and especially fruit and mint flavours in candy-style flavour is very common .

I am not interested in these strong-washed candylike flavours , i prefer stronger
tobacco with more nicotine and spice flavours like Al Kashmir ( with extra moassel )
and Kismet (ready to smoke ) , so i can't recommend any of them .

ReallyExtreme - Index

For frutier flavours i personally would recommend Freestyle , this tobacco is
not as artificial as others and it's moisture allows overpacking .

There are some online-shops in Germany , where you can purchase from overseas ,
here is the shop with the most tobacco brands :

Shisha Tabak | Shisha Nil

In Berlin, there are plenty of shops , which sell hookah tobacco , but i am not from Berlin ,
the only i know is this one :

http://www.tonys-shisha.de/tabak/?p=1

But as far as i know , you are only allowed to take 250 grams to UK duty-free ,
for more you have to pay customs .

Here is a website , where you can see the kilo prices over 250 grams .

I am completely with Dr. Bunsen Honeydew on this one, the only thing I'd like to add is Smoking-Shisha.de if you're looking for a good shop to order from. In my experience, they offer great customer service and I'm sure that they'd be glad to help you out.

Concerning brands, I definitely suggest you to check out Kismet. The Coffee Cardamom flavor is out of this world. If you don't mind the time you have to wait to let the tobacco soak up the molasses and develop, you HAVE to check out Al Kashmir! It's my favorite brand and offers some really interesting and unique flavors, as well as some more basic, fruity flavors such as guava and peach. It also offers a higher nicotine concent and (at least for me) pleasant undertones of the cigar blend that is used which complement the flavors really well.

Even if UK law will allow ‘importing’ tobacco from other EU-member states, there’s one common problem concerning shipping.

Tobacco tax/duty usually becomes due in each state again. Completely, no matter if such tax was previously paid in another EU-state. (The local tax rates still are very different). Often not only the buyer/recipient is liable to pay, but also the seller. So German shops normally won’t take the risk of shipping tobacco to destinations in the EU. Just to avoid receiving an expensive tax bill if the buyer won’t pay.

Asking your customs will be the best way, indeed. You could forward their reply to a German shop and maybe find a solution. Fingers crossed

Thanks for the info! I intend to visit in the next few weeks so I will probably buy direct and avoid the whole import hassle.

Thanks for your help! I just wish the tax wasn't so high in the UK. 1KG is roughly 136 Euro in tax excluding VAT.
